High up in the mountains of São Roque do Faial, a wide view opens up over a rugged landscape. Here, a path of stepping stones and steps winds along the ridge, past steep rock formations and sparse vegetation. The slopes drop sharply, revealing deep valleys whose bottoms are hidden in mist or shadow.
